Countless girls drop out of school due to period poverty and stigma,
yet sanitary pads remain a luxury in rural Africa.
In Sub-Saharan Africa, most people engage in subsistence farming,
living below the poverty line with a daily disposable income under US$2.
Even a single sanitary pad is completely out of reach...
When menstruation arrives, girls resort to rags, animal skins, or leaves—
or sit helplessly on the sand waiting for the bleeding to stop...
Over 35% are forced to drop out of school, and some are even driven to transactional sex for sanitary supplies.
Social stigma intensifies shame and anxiety, turning periods into a recurring nightmare.
Since 2015, Love Binti has reached deep into rural Africa,
teaching over 150,000 women and girls how to sew reusable cloth pads.
Through health education, we break taboos and gender discrimination,
empowering girls to stay in school and build a brighter future.
Workshop Highlights:
